Committee chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI) and Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) re-introduced the legislation yesterday, with Rogers, saying that the bill is more likely to pass following President Obama’s promise to sign an executive order earlier this week. “We think that now we are in a better place to work with the White House to try to find some common ground as this moves out of the House. The executive order, we think, will take a little pressure off the Senate’s insistence on infrastructure rules, regulations and standards.”
The bill has received support from tech industry leaders such as Intel, Oracle, IBM and Microsoft among many others. The legislation is also backed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. A current list of letters of support can be found here.
