Barracuda Takes on Storage | #VMworld

Guy Suter, GM of Barracuda StorageBarracuda has been in the storage business for a while now, but most people are probably still more familiar with the company’s security solutions. Guy Suter, GM of Storage at Barracuda hopes to change that. Mr. Suter sat down for a chat with John Furrier and Dave Vellante, hosts of The Cube, at VMworld 2013.

The Cube hosts asked Suter to talk about Barracuda’s storage business. The company is known for providing its customers with “easy to use, powerful solutions that are affordable” in the realm of security, and many of its spam and virus protection customers had been asking for an email storage solution to go along with it. This led to the creation of Barracuda Message  Archiver, its first storage product.

That was about five years ago, and since then, Barracuda has made several acquisitions in the backup space and created Barracuda Backup. More recently, the company also unveiled Copy.com, a cross-platform store, sync, and share cloud service that supports Android, iOS, MacOS, Windows, and Linux.

Suter went on to explain how Barracuda plans to provide its enterprise customers with end-to-end solutions. “We work really hard to make it easier for the customers on the frontend,” Suter explained, “Barracuda came in with an appliance that was just push-button easy”.

Barracuda’s strategy, Suter said, is to solve customers’ problems in the easiest way possible, defining their biggest problems and finding an easy solution. Through hard work and marketing, their backup service is now its top-selling product with storage coming in third.
