

This week’s Quantified Self roundup features an all-in-one tracking device, a smart bracelet, and an app that helps you get motivated in your journey to a healthier you.
This little device does more than track your activities and sleep. It also helps keep your back straight, and even helps keep the elderly safe.
Sense-U is a small device that clips onto your shirt, belt, bracelet, or pants to track your movement and sleep patterns. It is able to determine dangerous activities like falling down, as well as periods of inactivity, sending a message to family members or healthcare providers immediately. It also monitors children’s sitting and standing posture so they don’t develop back problems early on.
Its Base Station serves as a charging station as well as a syncing station, and connects to iOS devices via Bluetooth Low Energy. Sense-U is not yet available for purchase, as it is still an Indiegogo project. If you’re interested in seeing this device launch in the consumer space and don’t mind spending some of your money, you can help fund Sense-U, as it still has 36 days to reach its $100K funding goal.
The Amiigo band surpassed its Indiegogo funding goal back in March, and the bands are expected to arrive to early backers this Fall. It tracks heart rate, blood oxygen levels, skin temperature, overall activity level, and calories burned.
Amiigo is made up of thermoplastic elastomers and stainless steel and has two parts: the wrist band and the shoe clip (both are waterproof). You can choose to wear either of the two to track your activities, but for best results, wear them both is recommended. When you’re not using the shoe clip, you can slide it onto the wristband — this way, it is ready when you need it and is less likely to get lost.
Amiigo connects with your Android or iOS device via BLE and charges wirelessly with one charge lasting up to six days. The micro-adjustable bracelet fits any wrist size and comes in a variety of colors. Amiigo has multiple 3-axis accelerometers, pulse-oximeter and skin temperature sensors to collect all the data it needs.
If you’re not into wearing tracking bracelets or clip-ons and pendants, but instead rely solely on your mood as your feedback data, then maybe Sliders is the right app for you.
You can use your feelings towards activities, events, or ailments to keep track of your progress. Sliders is an iOS app that helps you track ‘how you feel’ about your diet, your week, your workout, your headache or anything else with a subjective measure that can be monitored. You can even post the results on Facebook so you can show your friends how lazy or active you have been.
