Red Hat Summit guide : What to expect | #RHSummit

red hat not a logoOpen source plays a major role in today’s technology world, for better or worse. Developments including OpenStack and OpenShift have empowered organizations to rethink not only the way they architect data centers and IT departments, but also the way they provide software-led services. On the flipside, open source remains a crowdsourced effort where shared responsibilities can leave gaps in security, as we’ve seen with the Heartbleed bug.

Exploring the current trends and long term implications of open source developments, SiliconANGLE will be broadcasting live from this week’s Red Hat Summit, kicking off Tuesday, April 15.

The event is being held at Moscone Center South in San Francisco, CA.

Red Hat is currently at a very interesting intersection of cloud and open source opportunities, pushing OpenShift as its own initiative for delivering cloud services in the enterprise.

Having also made its move in the storage market with the acquisition of Gluster, Red Hat looks to leverage its market position towards continued growth and leadership in Linux and all things open source.

For Red Hat, OpenShift and  OpenStack present market opportunities. Red Hat wants to be the distro of choice for OpenStack, says Wikibon senior analyst Stu Miniman, and the primary supplier for its own OpenShift project.

At the summit this week we’ll be hearing from Red Hat executives and partners from its ecosystem on the mechanisms needed for Red Hat to succeed in its endeavors, and the remaining barriers impeding market maturity.
