This crap’s for real, and you can buy it with Bitcoin

small__8678050414We can buy almost anything online these days, be it clothes, electronics, toys, gadgets, furnitures, cars, properties, even drugs… You name it, it can probably be had somewhere online. But did you know that you can also purchase ‘shit’, as in fecal matter, online as well?

But why on earth would anyone want to purchase poop?!? Well, for starters, if you want to prank your friends or family during holidays or birthdays, it’s a cruel but funny idea. Second, if you want to get at your nemesis, sending them a package of turds would likely make you feel good.

So where on earth can you purchase this kind of shit online? At ShitExpress of course.

The service

ShitExpress allows you to send a box filled with horse poop to anyone in the world for just $16.95 which includes packaging, shipping, and personalized message. Naturally, you can pay using Bitcoin, it costs about BTC 0.05, to ensure anonymity, a great option if you’re sending it to someone you really don’t like, although it also accepts PayPal. The service initially only accepted Bitcoin but had to add the PayPal option to cater to more people.

To use the service, you first have to choose what kind of animal feces you wish to buy. That’s easy enough because at the moment ShitExpress only has once choice – organic, wet, horse poop. But in the future, they will probably offer more options. ShitExpress delivers to any country in the world using the national postal service, so you don’t have to worry that the recipient won’t be getting your special package. You have the option of just sending an inconspicuous package or you can choose to add a huge smiley face on the box. To finalize the transaction, you need to pay using Bitcoin or PayPal and the service will protect your identity whatever payment option you choose.

How the shit got started

ShitExpress started out as just a crazy idea, but that’s all it was. The company’s CEO, who just calls himself “Peter”, has access to plenty of horse manure thanks to his friends and family, who live near farms and stables. ShitExpress began shipping horse poop for practicaly jokes in October 2014, and has so far enjoyed tremendous success.

In a blog post, Peter wrote, “In 30 days, we made whopping $10,120 in sales, without spending a penny on advertisements or marketing in general. More than 490,000 unique visitors generated hundreds of thousands of social shares, likes, tweets and comments. We got media attention from almost 500 websites; and referral traffic from 1,625 sources in total. As of December 4th, we’ve already shipped poop to 36 different countries.”

Who would have thought that sending shit will be a lucrative business?

Is this shit for real?

ShitExpress made its service known by utilizing the power of free social media such as Reddit and Twitter. Of course, not everything you see on the Internet is real, so how can you be sure that ShitExpress will really send a box full of shit to your annoying neighbor?

Any doubts were wiped away when tech website Motherboard featured the service and showed the unboxing of the poop it received two weeks after its order was placed. So yes, the shit just got real.
