Microsoft is presently looking for select, “enthusiastic Skype users” to give feedback in a testing program for Skype for iOS. Testers must be 18 or over and have a valid email address, as well as a Microsoft account or Skype account. The rest is “easy as pie”, says the team at Skype, although participants will be asked to keep their findings “secret” as they “don’t want to spill the beans”. Users will be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
The company is not giving too much away as to what testers will be asked to do, except that they will be asked to point out anything that simply doesn’t “look right”, which may entail problems in locating contacts, bad video quality, or audio that is out of sync. Users will also be asked to report back to Microsoft concerning not just present upgrades, but also what they would like to see in the app in the future.
Updates for Skype 5.9 for iPhone were also recently released and include improvements to the dial pad (Skype will suggest contacts when you start typing phone numbers) as well as a new “chat picker” that enables users to start conversations more easily by tapping on a phone or video icon after you’ve chosen your interlocutor.
Anyone wanting to join the program should sign-up by filling in the survey here.
