Could the next Twitter be at SXSW 2015?

SXSW veterans will recall Twitter’s resounding success in 2007, making the annual festival a prime place to launch mobile-ready startups into global fame. Kicking off March 13, 2015 at the Austin Convention Center in Texas, SXSW remains one of the biggest events for film, music and the technology industry. Now that we’re less than 30 days from SXSW, the search has begun for this year’s new Twitter.

SXSW 2015

Skoop

Skoop is an app that keeps you in the loop for a variety of SXSW-related events, including free food trucks, secret parties and cool shows. The purpose of the app is to maximize an attendee’s SXSW experience by delivering what other attendees are experiencing right on their smartphones.

Skoop aggregates Heartbeat, the unique social feed that lets you in on the hottest events; Bazaar, a marketplace where you can buy or sell things at SXSW; Events that feature official and unofficial SXSW events; Poll, which allows you to ask questions, such as which party to hit; and Group Chat so you and your friends can keep in touch even if you’re heading to different parties.

Roost

Roost aims to be the Airbnb of storage and parking. This service allows you to get in touch with other people with an extra storage or parking space and rent it out for a certain period. And for those with space to rent out, it’s a great way to earn a little extra income.

Roost is one of the startups pitching at SXSW Demo Day. Three winners will be selected and will be receiving consultations and other services as prizes.

Cheddar Up

Another SXSW Demo Day entrant is Cheddar Up, a service that makes collecting group money fun and easy. How many times have you bought show tickets for you and your friends only to be faced with the problem of not being paid back? Cheddar Up solves this issue without having to worry about damaging relationships. It allows you to receive payment online, create a custom payment page, keep track of who paid online and offline, and send out automatic reminders to avoid awkward moments when collecting payments.
