Adobe infuses IoT data into its marketing cloud

Adobe Systems, Inc. has updated its Adobe Marketing Cloud platform to aggregate location data from mobile devices, as well as indoor positioning systems with particular implementations of Apple’s iBeacon technology. Adobe believes that the information can help organizations identify traffic patterns and optimize the layout of locations such as in retail stores or airports.

The data generated can be utilized to customize content on digital signage, which can be managed directly via a new display management system.

Connected battery makes dumb things smart

If you have an old smoke detector that uses a 9v battery, you can turn that into a smart smoke detector with the help of Roost, a Wi-Fi smart connected battery. Roost allows you to get alerts and notifications via your smartphone with the use of a mobile app, and the battery itself has a lifespan of about five years.

Also featured in this roundup is Samsung’s $30,000 Dream Doghouse which features an automatic feeder and entertainment hub, and Google’s patents for smart home devices such as a smart door lock, doorbell, switches and plugs to name a few.

E-comm giant Amazon.com has acquired 2lementry, a cloud platform startup focused on the Internet of Things for the enterprise to help companies drive transformation and innovation. The company claims to have reduced the complexity and ramp-up time for IoT solutions in the enterprise.

Alibaba and SAIC Motor to invest $160M in connected car market

AIC Motor Corp. Ltd. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. entered a joint initiative that aims to fund the development of Internet-connected cars. The two will be investing 1 billion yuan ($160 million) and aims to launch their first car in 2016.

New health tracker motivates and protects: Next gen wearables

The fitness tracker market is a crowded space and it can be difficult to differentiate what makes a given tracker stand out. Fitkat is entering the market with a bonus: an emergency SOS feature to help keep you both fit and safe.
