iPhone 6s coming in September, will have 2GB RAM and 12MP camera, says analyst

If you find it hard to keep track of all the rumors surrounding Apple’s next iPhone due for launch in September, you are not alone. The rumor mill has, at different stages, reported that Apple’s next iPhone will be called the iPhone 7, while others have maintained Apple will launch two iPhone 6s versions next.

Some rumors have suggested Apple will also launch a new 4-inch iPhone 6c this year. A number of the more plausible and most likely to be accurate rumors have come from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Yesterday he was back with a new note to investors detailing some of the features we can expect in the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus versions – or iPhone 7 if you prefer.

iPhone 7 rumor update

AppleInsider obtained a copy and here are the highlights:

  • Force Touch will be the biggest selling point, but is also likely to cause bottlenecks in the supply chain. “Force Touch can enrich user experience due to more input methods and support of handwritten signatures, which is beneficial for expanding the commercial market,” wrote Kuo.
  • Apple will stick to two screen sizes, 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, and there will not be a new 4-inch iPhone 6c.
  • The new iPhone will come in rose gold, similar to the color available on the Apple Watch Edition.
  • The camera, already rumored to be iPhone’s best yet, will sport 12-megapixels.
  • Voice quality will be improved with the addition of an extra microphone near the speaker.
  • It will feature Apple’s new A9 processor with 2GB of RAM. To date, iPhone has featured only 1GB of RAM.
  • Apple will include an improved Touch ID sensor that will improve the Apple Pay experience with faster, more secure readings. The recognition rate of Touch ID will be improved further in a bid to promote Apple Pay.

While none of these revelations are new – we have reported on all of them here, here, and here – it is reassuring that Kuo, who is reputable for accurate Apple product predictions, is sending a consistent message each time he issues a new note to investors. Based on his predictions, we get a realistic picture of what Apple’s next iPhone will deliver.
