Snapchat’s latest update brings Travel Mode to save data, emoji bonanza, more

If Snapchat Inc.’s messaging app is frustratingly making you reach your data cap well before the end of the month, then you will be happy about their latest update.

The latest update for iOS and Android includes a feature called ‘Travel Mode’. Enable the Travel Mode feature and it will prevent snaps, including Live Stories, friends’ updates, and Discover, from automatically downloading and draining your mobile data. When you enable the new Travel Mode, you will have to tap the snaps in order to load them.

Even if reaching a data cap is not a concern, the new Travel Mode feature is something everyone is likely to benefit from. When Discover, which allows you to view curated news stories, launched in January, Snapchat described it as “different because it has been built for creatives. This time we built the technology to serve the art: each edition includes full-screen photos and videos, awesome long form layouts, and gorgeous advertising.” However, their new Discover feature offering full-screen photos and videos became a problem, when soon after launch reports started emerging of just how much data the Discover app was using. Enable Travel Mode on Snapchat and ensure the Discover feature does not gobble up your data anymore.

Also included in their latest update is the ability to be more creative with emoji. Gone are the days of only being able to place an emoji along a single line of text. Sticker Picker now allows you to go crazy and place an endless number of emoji anywhere on your snaps.

Finally, Snapchat’s update will allow you to export your customized Snapcodes as a video file; allowing you to let everyone know that you are on Snapchat by sharing your Snapcodes on various social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Start saving data and go sticker crazy by downloading the latest update of Snapchat on iOS or Android today.
