Pantheon announces enterprise solution for Drupal and WordPress web content management
Pantheon (product of Pantheon Systems, Inc.) is one of the world’s largest website management platform for Drupal and WordPress and it provides this management with app delivery using containerization. Today, many developer and operations teams are aware of the usefulness of virtual containers for providing the framework for application delivery in a way that eases administration needs and lets developers get back to developing features and operations get back to support.
Founded in 2010 and based in San Francisco, Pantheon now powers more than 1000, 000 WordPress and Drupal websites. Pantheon’s content management system (CMS) infrastructure is delivered via a cloud-based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) setup that means customers don’t need to worry about servers or system administration.
Today’s announcement is for Pantheon Enterprise, an extension of the usual services provided by the company that adds a large number of tools for corporate and institutional users. These premium features include Multidev, SAML SSO integration (an XML secure authentication standard), and change management–which are used to standardize workflow, increase productivity, and lower security risks.
Administrators of the Pantheon Enterprise edition receive access to a powerful dashboard that allows administrators to manage websites and add new ones with the click of a button, as well as provide teams and users access to those websites. Through change management, administrators can also put together internal and external team makeups and manage role-based permissions.
For developers Pantheon Enterprise provides a system called MultiDev that allows developers to spin up unlimited cloud environments for separate development. With access to cloud environments, development teams can more readily collaborate on new functions and execute them in their own instances before deployment. Custom upstreams also allow developers to create specific packages for web applications that could be integrated into future projects across the entire platform.
Institutional administrators will also find the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) single-sign-on (SSO) integration extremely useful. Businesses, corporations and institutions that already use their own single-sign-on solutions for user role-based management can incorporate those systems directly into Pantheon’s platform, allowing the platform to work with pre-existing user management.
Pantheon Enterprise can be purchased as an annual subscription for $10,000. The price includes unlimited developer seats, unlimited development environments and up to 10 cloud development environments per site. The package also includes $10,000 in hosting–these hosting credits can be used for Personal Plans ($25 per month), Professional Plans ($100 per month) and Business Plans ($400 per month.)
