Sweet deal: T-Mobile offers iPhone 6s from $5 per month on iPhone 6 trade in

Despite their high cost, Apple’s new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus may be the most affordable iPhone’s to date – at least if you are happy to make small monthly payments. Not only has Apple announced  its own in-house iPhone Upgrade Program that allows customers to get an iPhone 6s  on a 12-month annual agreement starting at $32 a month for a factory unlocked handset and AppleCare+ warranty protection, but now one major carrier has followed suit with an equally attractive offer.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere took to Twitter to announce that his company will let customers have a new iPhone 6s for a little as $5 per month through JUMP! On Demand provided they trade in an iPhone 6. Customers who trade in an older iPhone 5s will qualify to get the iPhone 6s for $10 a month. Depending on what model iPhone customers trade in, an iPhone 6s Plus can be had for as little as $15 per month.

Customers who don’t have an iPhone to trade in (or simply want to hold on to their old iPhone) can also benefit from T-Mobiles JUMP! On Demand promotion and get a 16GB iPhone 6s for $20 per month over an 18-month period without paying anything upfront. Provided the device is returned in good condition at the end of the 18 months, the total cost will amount to $360.

Customers who’d prefer to keep the iPhone at the end of the period will have to pay an additional $164 for the privilege. This amounts to a total cost of $524, or a $125 dollar saving off the retail price of a 16GB iPhone 6s.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available from T-Mobile – as well as Apple and other carriers – on Friday, September 25th. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will support T-Mobile’s Extended Range LTE on the 700MHz spectrum, which reportedly provides improved coverage by extending the network’s LTE signal up to twice the distance from its cellular towers and works four times better indoors. Available in 175 markets, T-Mobile’s Extended Range LTE covers more than half of the U.S. population.

The company will also extend the deal to customers who have already placed their iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus orders.
