In previous years, data extraction and analyzation was a slow, tedious process for businesses. But with companies like Qlik, Inc. now leading the way in data-collecting technology, business intelligence is becoming easier and more effective.
At BigDataNYC 2015, Anthony Deighton, CTO & SVP of products at Qlik, sat down with cohosts George Gilbert and Dave Vellante of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, to talk about the data analytic space.
As Deighton pointed out, organizations are collecting more and more data, and the problem now is how Qlik can extend more and more people access to this data in a quick and easy manner.
“If you go back five or 10 years, the way people made decisions with data is they asked IT for a data dump,” Deighton said. It was a a time-consuming cycle that took months. “We used to joke that by the time we got the back the answers, we’d forgotten what the question was. What Qlik is really focused on is: How can we reduce this cycle time?”
This philosophy has driven the growth of Qlik.
“The problem isn’t a data-visualization problem only,” said Deighton. “But there is a whole set of work behind that to make that data available.” According to Deighton, now that memory is plentiful and inexpensive, Qlik has built a powerful engine to create a unique visualization experience and trustworthy manageability for an organization.
“People ask me, ‘Is the secret sauce of Qlik in its visualization or in it’s powerful engine?’” said Deighton. According to Deighton, it’s both. Qlik’s goal is to help anyone be able to access data. It isn’t just IT anymore, but a variety of users who want to run data and evaluate it.
“If we could open up the technology, everybody should be using this technology,” he said.
