‘Allison Road’ devs ditch Kickstarter campaign in favor of publisher deal

After raising £145,959 from 4,482 backers on Kickstarter, the creators of the P.T. inspired horror game Allison Road have announced that they have cancelled their crowdfunding campaign thanks to a new deal with UK-based game studio Team17 Digital Ltd, which is best known for the Worms game series.

The developers of Allison Road said that they are excited about the deal and promised fans that the partnership with Team17 is good news for everyone.

“For us it’s an incredible opportunity to be part of a label that looks after not only such a massive gaming franchise, but also supports developers like Playtonic,Mouldy Toof and many others,” the Allison Road devs said in an update to the Kickstarter campaign page. “Working with Team17 will give us the chance to make our game unhindered creatively, but at the same time will give us the resources, support and experience that only a 25 year old studio can give.”

Since the campaign has been cancelled, backers will not be charged the money that they pledged to the project, but they will also not receive any of the bonuses they were promised such as copies of the game, t-shirts, signed concept art, or other merchandise. However, the developers said that they hope to find a way to offer extras to early fans.

“For all of you that have pledged already for in game rewards, we absolutely promise you that we will look at ways outside of Kickstarter that will allow you to be involved in the game at a later date,” the developers said.

This is not the first game from Kickstarter to partner with Team17. The upcoming 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee, which is meant to be the spiritual successor to the Banjo Kazooie series, will also be published by Team17.
