BlackArrow uncovers new insights with visualization tools | #pworld15
For BlackArrow, Inc., which provides cross-platform products and services including multiscreen solutions, for TV industry providers, the ability to extend real-time data is crucial. With Pentaho, Black Arrow can provide that data in a way that’s easy to assess and use.
“With Pentaho, we get an ad hoc reporting tool,” Chris Jannsen, director of user experience for BlackArrow, told Dave Vellante and George Gilbert, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during PentahoWorld 2015. “We can set up a general model to get all the dimensions and metrics for our clients. They can then either use standard reports that we’ve defined or define ones that we haven’t thought of.”
Creating visualizations to see trends and analytics
BlackArrow supports multiple screens, which means multiple platforms. Pentaho, plus BlackArrow’s visualization tool, allows the company to distill information for clients in a usable format. “They can create visualizations and see trends and analytics that they wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise,” Jannsen said.
Because of BlackArrow’s experience with Hadoop, Jannsen understands its challenges. “We want to see the continual breaking down of the difficulty to get at the data and do these visualizations,” he said. “We want to make data available to our customers so they can get to the data as quickly as possible and find things they didn’t know before.”
