Solving digital disruption while simplifying enterprise IT | #oow15

Managing people and doing it well has been a challenge for firms of all sizes, industries and types. In a rapidly expanding technological world with increasingly better analytics, Oracle is coming to the rescue with Oracle HCM for Talent Management application, among others, which revolutionizes the way firms do business.

During Oracle OpenWorld 2015, John Furrier and Brian Gracely, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, sat down with Chris Leone, senior VP of application development at Oracle, to discuss some of the projects going on at Oracle and the impact of the digital disruption.

Tech changes everywhere

Digital disruption has been an emerging challenge for CEOs and CMOs with the change in technology occurring so quickly it’s difficult to make a sound business decision. One of the biggest trends, according to Leone, is the impact of social media and the way its shaping the user experience.

In providing a seamless solution for businesses, applications developed on Oracle’s platform can take advantage of the digital disruption with regular, fast and seamless upgrades hugely lowering economic burdens caused by rapidly changing hardware, Leone explained; no more of those “four-to-five-year” infrastructure upgrades that are costly, for example.

Consumerization of IT and a use case

Oracle has evolved HR with its HCM for Talent application, which Leone brought up as an example of the innovative development taking place on Oracle’s platform. It’s providing businesses with a revolutionary system on the cloud that simply “works.” It exemplifies the idea that the experience for enterprise IT consumers should match that of normal consumer experiences, which are typically marked by simplicity in the end user interface.

Leone  said that in “HR we talk about engagement,” referring to the user’s interaction on a variety of socially connected applications within the application, such as healthy living and competitions. This clear connection to the disruption that social data has on businesses.
