Smart mirror does more than take selfies

Take a scroll through Instagram and you’d think the world is full of the self-absorbed and selfie-obsessed, but can you blame us when the most narcissistic tool – the smartphone – is with us at all times?

Now one company, Smart Ltd., is taking selfies to the next level and it eliminates the awful and often tiring arm extension just to get the perfect shot. Smart’s selfie mirror mounts to the wall, ready to snap a photo at any time. But this smart mirror also acts as a control center for your smart home.

Tech specs

The Selfie Mirror features a 10-inch 1280×800 IPS display and a 16MP Sony Exmor camera that is able to take high definition photos and videos. It runs Android 5.0, has 2MB RAM, 16GB internal storage, an SD card slot. It also comes equipped with 4 smart sensor ports, 2 USB ports, 2000 lumen LED lights so you always have the perfect lighting for your selfies, Hi-Fi speakers, a mic 2-channel stereo, and a TDA 7482 Digital 20-20Khz amplifier.

Features

Me, myself and I

Selfie Mirros Hi-Fi speakersAside from taking selfies whenever you want, the Selfie Mirror also allows users to connect with their friends or followers on social media, as photos can be automatically posted on social media.

You can also use it for communication, such as making or accepting a video call on Skype. Or if you’re a video blogger, the Selfie Mirror can be your perfect companion — with its LED lights, you’re sure to always have good lighting for each of your videos.

As a device for personal use, the start screen of the device displays time, date, weather report, messages from social media and news sites, and of course the Selfie Button. The Hi-Fi speakers also allow you to enjoy your favorite tunes by tapping into your SoundCloud account or streaming from your smartphone.

Not all fun and play

For business or enterprise use, the start screen can grant visitors quick access to services such as Uber, Maps, Trip Advisor, or a way to access information about the company or the building, and of course the Selfie Button. Though a Selfie Button may seem useless in the business scene, it could be useful in identifying each person who enters the building for security purposes.

Control your world

When the motion sensor is triggered, the device will capture a video or image and directly send it to your mobile device to alert you that something is up. The four smart sensors on the device also allow the mirror to detect fire, gas leaks, air quality, home temperature and humidity.

The Selfie Mirror also aims to become the control center of your home allowing you to see who is at the front door by connecting to your smart doorbell, turn off/on appliances plugged into a smart socket, turn connected lights on/off, control the temperature and other connected home devices.

You can now pre-order your own Selfie Mirror for $160 on Indiegogo, Inc. and expect to have it shipped to you by March 2016.
