GOG’s big winter sale is here with huge discounts on the Witcher series and dozens more

While the sales on the Steam Store may get more attention, they are not the only game in town when it comes to great deals on PC games. Today, GOG.com launched its Big Winter Sale, which includes huge discounts on dozens of games.

One of the main advantages of buying games on GOG as opposed to Steam is the fact that all of GOG’s games come completely DRM-free, meaning that you can install them on as many devices as you want without having to worry about your games constantly trying to phone home to ensure that you have a legit copy. GOG gives you the option of installing games through their own Steam-like download client, GOG Galaxy, or you can download individual game installers straight from their website.

The other big reason to use GOG is its library of hundreds of classic PC games that come with their own baked-in compatibility support.

For example, one of the best deals right now is the LucasFilms Classic Bundle, which comes with several classic adventure games like Indiana Jones and the Fate of AtlantisThe Secret of Monkey IslandSam and Max Hit the Road, and The Dig. There are also currently two separate bundles full of classic Star Wars games spanning several decades of the franchise’s video game history.

Of course, GOG is not limited to old games only (hence the shortening of its name from “Good Old Games”). Right now you can also pick up The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for 50 percent off, and you can even grab the game’s recently released DLC, Hearts of Stone, for 10 percent off.

In fact, if you are new to the series, GOG is currently offering the entire Witcher franchise – which includes the three main games, the Witcher 3 expansion pass, and the digital version of The Witcher Adventure Game – for $59.46, which is less than the usual full-price cost of The Witcher 3 alone.

Buying The Witcher franchise from GOG also has the added benefit of directly supporting the developer of the games, CD Projekt RED, which is owned by the same company as GOG.
