Report: Apple to launch Apple Watch 2, 4” iPhone 6c at March event

If the latest rumors out of Cupertino, Calif. prove to be accurate, Apple will launch a second-generation Apple Watch alongside a new 4-inch iPhone at an event scheduled to take place sometime in March next year.

And, given that the origin of the rumors is 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman, a journalist known to receive accurate tip offs about Apple’s future plans, there is a strong possibility that such an event might well be in the offing.

According to the report, Apple might unveil a 4-inch iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 6c in the media, at the spring event. The report bolsters a number of rumors doing the rounds already that suggest Apple is working on a replacement for the discontinued iPhone 5c.

One of those rumors suggests that the iPhone 6c will feature Apple’s new A9 chip, 2.5D cover glass with curved edges, NFC to support Apple Pay, an all-metal casing, an 8-megapixel iSight camera and a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime camera.

Notably, the iPhone 6c is unlikely to include Apple’s 3D Touch technology introduced on the recently launched iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

Sure to be the main reason behind the March event, Apple is said to introduce the second-generation Apple Watch at the event, less than a year after the first-generation Apple Watch went on sale.

Although the report does not elaborate on the potential features of the new Apple Watch, previous rumors have suggested that the 2016 Apple Watch will include a FaceTime camera to enable video calls from the wrist, an improved Wi-Fi module to make the Watch less dependent on a connected iPhone, additional sensors to track sleep and health patterns, as well as new models.

Rumors have also suggested that Apple intends to introduce a range of Smart Bands for the Apple Watch – containing sensors to improve health tracking accuracy – in lieu of a complete Watch update as the company believed users may not upgrade their Apple Watch less than a year after purchasing it.

With little more than rumors to go on, it remains to be seen what features Apple will include in the second-generation Apple Watch but we have only a few months to wait and there will certainly be more rumors between now and then to keep us occupied.
