Dropbox Business Guide: Worthy collaboration & security features with AdminX tools
Dropbox, Inc. is making it easier for businesses and enterprises to manage and control the sharing of files both internally and externally. The company has launched several new features for Dropbox Business and Dropbox Enterprise administrators, including a new team folder, an updated Admin Console, and enhanced security.
The changes form part of the company’s internal AdminX initiative that started last year and these new features form part of the first AdminX tools available for IT administrators.
Secure collaboration with a centralized team folder
The team folder acts as both a centralized file collaboration portal as well as providing businesses with additional security features.
Features of the new team folder include enhanced sharing controls, allowing administrators to manage membership on a team folder basis or at a sub-folder level for both individuals inside and outside the business.
Administrators will be able to view all the team folders in a single tab with the team folder manager, ensuring confidential content is not shared incorrectly. While sync management will allow administrators to control what content will sync automatically to the company computers.
The new team folder is rolling out slowly, but you can get it now via Dropbox’s early access program.
Enhanced admin experience and security
In addition to an updated Admin Console, Dropbox has also made it easier to see when, where and how various files have been altered by team members with the audit log.
While a new feature that will be coming out soon will allow administrators to limit the number of devices that can be synced to the business Dropbox, thus helping to ensure unauthorized access.
