Watch LIVE: Can machine learning help remove Hadoop complexities? | #BigDataNYC
Where has the hunt for Hadoop simplification taken Big Data this year?
Kicking off this evening to answer those and other questions, BigDataNYC 2016, hosted by theCUBE, will run through Sept. 29 at Pillars 37 in New York City. SiliconANGLE will be broadcast exclusive interviews from BigDataNYC from our roving news desk, theCUBE.
During the event, theCUBE’s co-hosts Dave Vellante, Peter Burris and George Gilbert will discuss the changing landscape for Hadoop, and the growing need for complementary programs and alternatives. Hadoop technology has captured all the attention for the past five years, but has also brought “unbearable complexity for developers and administrators,” says Gilbert, Big Data and analytics analyst for Wikibon and theCUBE. Gilbert sees a rise in other products, that have a different take on integration, getting more attention, such as Cask and Iguaz.io.
The BigDataNYC event will also explore the industry expectations driving machine learning developments and the possible positive impact it could have to remove the complexities around the running of Hadoop technology. While machine learning will impact all software, it will take time. Gilbert says, “We’re at the stage in the market’s development where data scientists are mostly experimenting and building relatively modest custom projects from scratch using these tools.”
