Performance support software platform startup Whatfix raises $3.5M

Performance support software platform startup Whatfix today said it has raised $3.5 million round of funding.

The Series A round was led by Stellaris Venture Partners and included existing investors Helion Venture Partners, Powerhouse Ventures and Marquee Angels. As part of the deal, Stellaris’ Alok Goyal will join the Whatfix board.

Founded in 2014 and with offices in Bengaluru, India and Sunnyvale, California, Whatfix offers a Software-as-a-Service platform that helps companies create and integrate interactive walkthroughs on any website or web app. The platform is built with what the company describes as “real-time interactive guidance technology at its core.” Whatfix claims that it allows enterprises to enable their users to quickly adopt any software application, eliminating the time spent in referring to multiple resources for help and support.

Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Khadim Batti told SiliconANGLE via email that the company is building a solution that provides just-in-time contextual help for any web application, allowing enterprises to reduce their training and support efforts. Whatfix claims to have grown by eight times over the last 12 months and now has a range of prominent companies and organizations using its platform including Hewlett Packard Co., the American Automobile Associating, Booking.com (The Priceline Group), NASA, CNA Financial and Wyndham Worldwide.

The market for user onboarding, training and support faces a number of challenges, one being cost; an estimated $500 billion is spent annually by companies on such services. As David Costar, director of people and change for KPMG, told SiliconANGLE’s theCUBE in 2015, “onboarding spans across every business, every sector, every level, yet it’s often the most fragmented and disconnected process that exists across an enterprise.”

Digitizing the process, as Whatfix is doing, allows for quality and efficiency. “It’s really about designing for people and for the employee’s journey,” Shank added. “And that employee journey crosses over to the customer.”

Including the new round, Whatfix has raised $5 million to date. The company said it would use the new funding to strengthen its research and development efforts as well as expand its global footprint.
