Cloud communications startup UJET raises $25M round led by Google’s VC arm
Cloud communications platform startup UJET Inc. has raised $25 million in funding in a Series B round that was led by Google LLC’s GV along with Citi Ventures, Kleiner Perkins and DCM Ventures.
Founded in 2015, UJET offers a cloud-based mobile-ready platform that is claimed to deliver a “holistic” voice and chat experience across phone, web and app. Said to replace expensive legacy options for consumer-oriented enterprise users and call centers, the platform claims to reshape “the future of customer support,” enabling users to reach support teams from directly within their existing smartphone apps.
The platform integrates with customer relationship management and other enterprise platforms, including Salesforce and Zendesk. It offer a number of what the company describes as “smart actions,” such as verification without interrogation, contextual information with pertinent app info, real-time sharing and the ability to add a contact or transfer with context.
UJET claims to have experienced “rapid adoption” with a customer base that includes the Amazon.com Inc.-owned Blink, Ring and SpotHero.
“Consumers want and expect instant resolution to support issues,” GV general partner Karim Faris said in a statement. “Americans are estimated to spend more than 30 hours per year talking to customer support with well over half churning out after a bad experience.” He added that UJET has been “built to equip call centers and consumers with better tools to tackle support problems.”
Including the new funding, UJET has raised $45 million to date. The company said it would use the new money to invest in scaling it business as well as expanding its geographic footprint, including new offices in New York and Europe.
