Why I Trust Microsoft but not Google

image I couldn’t do it. I was there ready to order the Nexus One but something terrible happened. When i looked up the T-mobile rep said thanx for ordering my new Htc touch pro 2. What? Why did i do this?

Whenever you read about new mobile apps you hear the same four mobile operating systems: iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Palm’s Web Os. It’s been like this for at least a year now so why did I purchase a Winmo device?

I use gmail, gcal, Google Reader and Google Maps. The N1 comes with Google Earth too which is amazing, but, it’s all based on the web or cloud. Can we trust that? When i was up in the Poconos with my Nokia 5800xm my Gps worked but my phone reception didn’t. Google maps was useless in that case. I’m still not sold on the mobile cloud. In my line of work if the network is down, no thin clients work, I can’t have that on my Pc and my phone, something has to work.

So, as much as I love Google’s apps I’m not 100 percent sure a snappy mobile device without any app using its power is the way to go… yet. For now Microsoft‘s mobile devices integrates into IT infrastructure better and that is what "I" need. Consumers have more leeway and unfortunately, that’s why the iPhone, Android and Palm devices are winning.

What do you think? Are you buying the Nexus One?
