SnOwbreeze Jailbreak for iPhone: Why?

imageApple users are a confusing bunch. Yay they have the iPhone and it’s beautiful look and software potential but Nay for the "I have control and you don’t" feel. What to do? I guess the best way for iPhone users to have their cake and eat it too is to hack their device. What does that do?

Hacking your iPhone basically give you administrator permissions. Some call it root privileges but it’s the same thing: the choice to add applications iTunes does not offer. The chance to customize your iPhone in a way not authorized by Apple. This is about the second version for the iPhone 3gs because whenever AAPL updates the device, a new hack is needed.

This is what confuses me when intelligent, savvy writers from Techcrunch and Engadget extol the “consumer-centric” iPhone. It’s for people who’s not sure what to do tech wise and who are comforted to know Steve Jobs will tell them what’s best.

Why are techies glad to be told what they can and cannot do? Wouldn’t they want their background changed? Maybe a cool green and white Techcrunch theme? The Boss got tired of following the leader, he wanted control and switched to Android.

So I don’t think I answered my original question: Why? Or maybe I did. Maybe the developers who are crazy enough to hack the #1 device just wants a little control. A little choice as to whether they want Google Voice or not. I know it’s insane because Apple Attorneys are hungry beasts but maybe there’s something more important than punishment.

Maybe it’s about freedom?
