Beyond the Press Release – Announcing Startup CEO Posts – Transparency and Direct Messaging

image Today we are launching an experiment.  Starting today startup CEO’s can post their opinion, vision, and their "angle" on the market they are going after.

Why?

Over the past few months we’ve noticed that startup CEOs wanted to get their message out about their vision and value proposition in a way not dependent on begging for the approval by influential blogs. In addition more and more the press release is becoming more irrelevant every day and social media is taking center stage. The world is moving toward transparency and this is part of that movement.

Over the past few months, we’ve been getting inquiries from companies to get coverage.  Some of the companies PR firms I have a positive relationship with and know them personally.  I often say have the CEO join our community and post directly.   Now they can share with our community their vision in an honest transparent way.

It’s been talked about in Silicon Valley and beyond that companies go through great lengths (and money) to get approval from influential tech bloggers like Techcrunch. Often those startups are unsatisfied.

Solution: go direct write your own posts.

Here is how it works

I’m offering vetted startup CEOs a way to post directly about their vision and company.  We have to know either the CEO, Founder, or PR firm in order to post here.

On subject topics:  as long as the posts are informative, engaging, provocative, and collaborative I’m ok with just letting the words of the startup CEOs stand on their own.   We won’t edit the posts in anyway.  Hopefully this can work for them in getting some interactions going and some feedback.

Cost = ZERO

This will cost startups ZERO money.  Most startups don’t have tons of money and have to be resourceful.  This approach works for them – the content is definitely their words, opinion, and vision.   If the post are lame the reaction will be direct.  If the reactions are positive then they can build on that.  Either way we hope that startups can get feedback directly from their own words.

Our goal at SiliconAngle has always been to create content to drive information, interactions, and collaboration for the members of our community and audience.

First startup CEO post is from CEO SocialCast Tim Young.
