Testing the T-Mobile Nokia 5230 Nuron. Would You Buy It?

I think I spoiled my wife. Right after Nokia created their first all touch phone, I bought it and eventually gave it to my wife. This has unfortunately made her go “bleh” to Nokia’s first official all touch phone for  Tmobile.

image One of the brightest spots about the Nokia is its integration with Ovi Maps. I’ve never seen a device grab satellites this fast before! The menu is also easy to navigate through which is good, when you are lost and need to get home… Quick, lol.

The con is how small the screen is. I forgot about this since I moved on to the HTC Pro2. If it wasn’t for the voice navigation with street names I wouldn’t even call this a smart phone.

A more review of the phone is coming but i wanted to show you Ovi maps since it does such a great job at a great price (free)…

Would You Buy the Nokia 5230 Nuron?

image69.99 or free when you add a new line isn’t that bad, but is it worth it? Overall the Nokia Nuron is a very good phone. The speaker is very clear when talking to someone. You can’t tell when the switch is done from phone to speaker to supplied earbuds either!

Since this has the core abilities of Nokia’s first all touch, the Nokia 5800 xpress music, getting applications won’t be a problem. The problem will be getting the popular ones since most developers have abandoned Symbian development. Thankfully you can install Facebook, Twitter and Instant message apps on it from the Ovi store.

I don’t think the average phone user will mind the small screen. The virtual keyboard appears automatically once turned into landscape mode (thx Yelitza) and everything on it responds very quickly.

As posted earlier, GPS and Ovi Maps is the real selling point to this phone. Location takes less than 30 seconds and having the voice assisted directions for free is incredible!

So in the end, I do suggest you take a good look at this phone on your next trip to T-mobile.
