Xeround Launches MySQL for the Cloud. It’s All About Scale.
Xeround has launched its private beta for MySQL for the Cloud, a service for managing your cloud ecosystem. Xeround provides a cloud environment that’s flexible and scalable, designed for running applications in SaaS, IaaS (infrastructure-as-a-service) and PaaS.
Geared towards service providers, ISVs and other cloud clients, the new Xeround aims to help them face the growing number of challenges that come with virtualization, from data synchronization to speedier response times. One specific area of focus for Xeround addresses relational data and queries for re-building and re-coding existing products.
These are areas that fall short with NoSQL databases, and Xeround has patented technology to help clients better manage their unique virtualization journey. Xeround starts with the simplicity of NoSQL data stores, and works outwards from there, bringing efficiency around multi-tenancy, auto-scaling, self-healing and guaranteed uptime. It’s really all about scale.
“Before Xeround, you could not elastically scale a database without downtime,” said Razi Sharir, CEO of Xeround. “Xeround keeps running during scale and schema changes without a change in performance with no code or architecture changes required.”
The new product is available in two configurations, including Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) and a virtual appliance. Xeround is offered directly through its website, as well as Amazon EC2 during this beta testing phase. The company has plans for expanding support for other cloud service providers.
