Yes, We’re Addicted to Conan O’Brien and Team Coco as they Take Over the Web

It looks like Conan O’Brien’s first guest on his new Team Coco show will be chosen by his fans—he’s crowd sourcing his decision by offering it up to the public in a poll. Ever since joining the social media sphere, he’s been dominating the scene with his bright presence.

They have plans of a series of webisodes involving the late night talk show star and have even launched a behind-the-scenes “live HQ cam” (which is currently showing a fellow attempting to solve a jigsaw puzzle in a stairwell.)

Fastcompany.com interviewed John Wooden, GM and executive producer of Team Coco Digital, about their plans and O’Brien’s involvement with them.

What’s the focus currently of Team Coco?

Right now, our focus is on preparing for the launch of the show, so we’re trying to give the fans as much information as we can information leading up to November 8th. TeamCoco.com first launched in March to support the cross country tour. In August, we relaunched it as a teaser site for the new show. And then we launched Team Coco branded satellites on Facebook and Twitter and Tumblr and Foursquare and Flickr and YouTube.

The show is only a few weeks away. What else can we expect?

There’s so much awesome stuff. The blimp is in effect for the rest of the month. We will continue to be run Webisodes. We just yesterday rolled out a poll where we’re letting the Internet choose the first guest of the show.

Promotion for the project is running strong. Including a promoted trend on Twitter for the #LiveCocoCam hashtag. People are using it right now to discuss what they’re seeing on camera—mostly passersby interacting with the jigsaw puzzle creation and including at least one man who ate two of the puzzle pieces! From the looks of the puzzle, it’s going to be a pain to complete, while the camera image doesn’t do it justice, it seems to be a large swath of yellow. Perhaps it will form together into the Team Coco logo, or maybe something else similar.

With this staggering amount of fan involvement (and I must say, the live cam is hypnotizing) it’s no doubt that this venture is going to go far.
