UK Spotify Music App Hopeful for webOS

Spotify, the ever-popular if not leading UK music streaming app (currently not available in the U.S) has been reported here to have had attempted to raise some buzz around a prospected future expansion, arriving in the form of a HP webOS version of the app. The mobile competitors Grooveshark and Finetunes ,currently available for the iOS and Android, have raised a few eyebrows above due to a recent Pixi ad – a webOS running Smartphone – published in the Daily Telegraph:

“When she smashed through to her highest level yet on Angry Birds, Laura briefly paused the new Brandon Flowers album on Spotify, rang her friend Abby for some major gloating, put Brandon back on, then let everyone else know by changing her Facebook status.

Amazing what you can achieve when your boyfriend’s running late. Again.”

The launch of Spotify for webOS may not arrive in the very near future, but publicity and untapped markets are publicity and untapped markets no matter what, as this is definitely another step for the right direction.

Spotify can’t be in the U.S yet, but that doesn’t mean the demand and the achievable revenue isn’t present. Ranked by users as one of the music streaming industry’s leaders, this cross-platform app is in a rather good position right now.  Nonetheless, nobody says there isn’t a potential, desire or need for growth, or a chance the exact opposite will happen.

After crossing Android and iPhone, launching a webOS version would be very logical next step. A sizable user-base and an equally upbeat reputation represent a good head start in a given Spotify expansion to the webOS arena, which is a critical factor to consider.  It would give HP’s newly updated webOS some footing too, as it will need the support of developers to create apps around the platform.
