Locations Labs released Sparkle today, an ultimate mobile location, control and security platform. Also, Sprint made public their intention for using the platform on the future smartphones.
The platform features revolutionary services such as location, security, management of the voice, and apps. From the developers’ point of view, Sparkle Platform provides the driving speed and geofencing and location services when exposed as an API, enabling the development of more complex applications for end users.
In the case of RaizLabs, who used the private beta of the platform, Sparkle proved to be the basis for the intelligent location-based application MayorMaker – available free of charge on Apple App Store – and which is utilized in Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter (Twitter Mover) applications.
It is obvious that the drive in the mobiles industry is going toward the development of location-based applications. Almost 4% of the online adults use location-based services. Among the expansion of typical services such as Foursquare, Gowalla or Brightkite the specialists predict an increased interest for this field.
Google is also concerned about the expansion of this segment of location-based services. Mark Zuckerberg the CEO of Google recently announced that they are considering the development of a true game changer.
On the other side Facebook pays attention to the applications using the location of the online user. Among Facebook Deals it was recently launched the Facebook Places application which determines the position of the user via the GPS platform.
