Who Else? Mark Zuckerberg Bags 2010 TIME Person of the Year

The man who redefined how people in this planet connects and communicate is 2010 TIME Magazine Person of the Year—none other than Mark Zuckerberg. The unrivaled popularity of Facebook has placed its genius founder on top of the world.

Seven years ago, Zuckerberg, now dubbed as a social network mogul and one of the youngest billionaires United States has produced, was just an ordinary 19-year old, a wise and hardly-noticed personality at Harvard University. Who would have thought that a web service that started in a dormitory connecting a few people in the university would be so successful, as Facebook has now crossed the its  million member . That means one in every twelve people has a Facebook account.  If Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest (in terms of population), next to China and India.  Zuckerberg has wired the humanity into a single network; and that is a feat that has reshaped  how we live day by day.

Mark Zuckerberg was born in 1984 and was raised in a very supportive family, where confidence is always encouraged. His father, Ed, who is a dentist, relates what young Mark was like. He said,” For some kids, their questions could be answered with a simple yes or no. For Mark, if he asked for something, yes by itself would work, but no required much more. If you were going to say no to him, you had better be prepared with a strong argument backed by facts, experiences, logic, reasons. We envisioned him becoming a lawyer one day, with a near 100% success rate of convincing juries.”

Another victory worth celebrating Zuckerberg is Facebook’s recent inclusion on the list of the as one of the top places to work for.    Aside from the luring compensation that engineers and employees receive, Facebook offers a great working environment. Facebook leads rivals like Google and Apple which are ranked 30th and 20th respectively. It also replaced Southwest Airlines at the number one spot.
