Cisco Launches Videoscape TV platform at CES
Networking giant Cisco had announced a new, cloud-based TV platform at the CES yesterday dubbed Videoscape. Videoscape is presenting its competitors a serious force to be reckoned with. Specifically, one that combines 5 products including the Videoscape media gateway, Videoscape IP set-top box, Videoscape software clients, the cloud-based Videoscape Media Suite and the Cisco Conductor for Videoscape.
“Consumers are looking for a personalized TV experience that can be taken with them irrespective of location or device. Cisco Videoscape is the only entertainment solution available today that delivers this experience in full scope, combining all the necessary technology components of the cloud, the network and client devices.”
Senior VP Pankaj Patel’s take on the system may not be too farfetched at all – Videoscape presents in-video e-commerce, social networking, cross-platform / on-the-go support, internet support, additional revenue models for service providers and more.
In our previous coverages of Cisco’s video products, we’ve got the company’s announcement that it would release 2 additional virtual desktops with advanced videoconferencing capabilities. This comes alongside our coverage of Cisco umi telepresence, a home telepresence product which connects HD TV and internet to enable advanced and flexible videoconferencing. The product set comes with an HD camera, console and a remote.
