Leading communications solutions Vivu tag-teamed CES 2011 with AMD, a semiconductor company. This fusion is set to bring forth a new application the combines GPU and CPU performance to deliver better graphics acceleration and is supported by AMD Fusion technology. This next-generation interactive video software will be developed by both companies, with extensive applications ranging from home entertainment to enterprise video collaboration. This will hopefully integrate internal and external business processes. Vivu, being a smaller startup company, was ready for a battle at this year’s CES.
A very excited Manju Hegde, Corporate Vice President, Fusion Experience Program of AMD faces the media and expressed confidence in their partner. He said, “ViVu has already demonstrated technology leadership in enterprise-class videoconferencing with its MXTP™ technology. We look forward to amplifying ViVu’s innovative software with the performance and video processing power of AMD Fusion APUs to usher in a new generation of powerful video applications that deliver a truly immersive and vivid multimedia experience to consumers and business users alike.”
Vivu, represented by co-founder and CEO Sudha Valluru also relates how positive the organization is in this collaboration: “Combining our MXTP technology with AMD Fusion APUs brings in tremendous performance improvements to video delivery. Besides immediate benefits for our enterprise collaboration product suite, these improvements also make it possible to develop powerful new video applications for the home entertainment market. This is an exciting partnership for us, as we continue to lead the video technology innovation and quickly translate the benefits for our customers.”
The new product line is said to be powered by Vivu’s MTXP technology and the aforementioned AMD Fusion Accelerated Processing Units or APUs. To be more specific, it will deliver tele-presence-like video right from customer’s own laptops—this was just possible via a built-in hardware from another vendor in the industry. It is also expected to flawlessly interact with other endpoints like room-based video conferencing equipment.
