Virtualization vendor GigaSpaces announced today it has partnered up with cloud-based transaction management software developer CloudTran. Partnerships are still a very applicable strategy structure for cloud companies, and CloudTran is only the latest one for GigaSpaces. Its previous partnerships include Protogen and Yazino, as well as the more prominent team-up with Citrix, which we covered more extensively.
“GigaSpaces Technologies, a leading provider of a new generation of virtualized application platforms delivering end-to-end scalability, announces that CloudTran has integrated its transaction management middleware with GigaSpaces eXtreme Application Platform (XAP). The end result is a Java-based solution that runs large database infrastructures in public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.”
GigaSpaces provides in-memory data level scalability and CloudTran provides it in the persistent data level by organizing data stored across multiple nodes. The joint offering can reportedly support thousands of transactions per second as well as a broad spectrum of transaction processing solutions including payment processing, order entry, and inventory tracking.
CloudTran provides a data modeling tool, a transaction manager and hot failover recovery which integrate into the GigaSpaces in-memory grid and persistent data stores. The recovery service in turn rebuilds data within the GigaSpaces grid in case a node fails.
