Internet Numbers Game

Using a variety of sources, Pingdom has put together a list of numbers about the Internet. For example:

  • 107 trillion – The number of emails sent on the Internet in 2010 (89% were spam).
  • 255 million – The number of websites as of December 2010.
  • 825.1 million – Internet users in Asia (as compared with 266.2 million in North America).
  • 3000+ – Photos uploaded per minute to Flickr.

And lots more.

I have no idea what it all means, but it is fascinating just to steep one’s mind in the sheer magnitudes involved. So take a look.

And here comes the commercial: Imagine five FCC Commissioners trying to fine tune all this with a stream of commands in the Federal Register, supposedly to keep the whole thing in some undefined state of “neutrality.”

Yeah, Ri-iight!
