For as much promise that Windows Phone 7 held for both Microsoft and consumers, the smartphone platform is facing a lot of negative feelings when it comes to its update process. First we had the pre-update update that either didn’t get sent out by the carriers or in some cases, bricked Samsung Phones.

All through this has been the growing impatience with the first important update, known as the NoDo; or the cut and paste update, being held back long after the March date that Microsoft had promised. Whether this is the fault of Microsoft, the carriers, or both is still open to debate but Microsoft has been getting a lot of flack over the lack of transparency over the whole updating process.

In a post on the Windows Phone Blog, Eric Hautala outlines the current updating process and when consumers can expect to see their updates.  He also announced that Mirosoft has launched a new page for Windows Phone 7 owners to give them some idea of when they should be seeing their updates – finally.

When you first hit the Where’s My Phone Update page, you’ll be able to select whether you are an U.S. or International customer, as you can see from the image at the top of this post.  I live in Canada, so I select the International link which takes me to a page with a list of countries, carriers and delivery dates.

Uhm, that’s it?

Sorry Microsoft ,but this still doesn’t say squat. I can appreciate the effort, but this page is falling short of what is really needed.

Perhaps letting us know exactly why these updates, which by all accounts were ready months ago, are being stalled. If it is, your fault, then bite the freaking bullet.
