New Business Tablet Apps for iPad, Android

With the enterprise consumerization trend rapidly expanding, tablets are becoming a bigger and bigger aspect of this phenomenon. Naturally, the same goes for apps, and this week we’ve gathered the top five iPad and Android tablet business apps you need to have on your device.

iPad

OmiGraffle

While quite pricey at $49.99. OmiGraffle is one of the best diagram making apps in the market. It lets users create, modify and streamline diagrams, as well as process charts, page layouts and website wireframes. Users can either freehand sketch, use Omi’s built-in functionalities, or both.

Remote Desktop – RDP

Remote Desktop RDP is a virtual desktop client that supports XP, Vista and Windows 7 (Home Editions excluded, since they do not support the protocol.) The app is easily set-up, and offers users several view settings, configuration options and printing.

Numbers ‘09

Part of the iWork.com suite, Numbers ’09 brings together over 250 functions geared towards business professionals. These include support for Microsoft Excel files, a media browser integrated with iPhoto, and more. Users can create intelligent multipurpose tables, 2D and 3D charts and formulas, choose among 30 templates and share their projects in multiple formats – namely Numbers, .xlsx and PDF.

Android

QuickOffice Pro for Android

QuickOffice Pro is one of the most popular mobile productivity apps in the world, thanks to its integration with just about every major cloud service out there.  It’s got support for most file formats and of course, a broad spectrum of features and functions. The most recent update regarding the app is a team-up with Freescale Semiconductor to pre-load the app on Freescale’s Android tablet reference designs.

Zinio

Zinio, an international digital newsstand, announced a few days ago its app is now available for tablets running Android Honeycomb. It features countless titles a business professional may read, including the Harvard Business Review.  Dubbed the “Netflix of Magazines,” you can subscribe to a variety of publications, purchase single issues, and download magazines for offline reading.
