Hyundai Australia Frugal on Storage System Costs, Turns to Virtualization

IT economics’ consistent interest in virtualization attracts organizations that are serious in implementing cost-savings in their infrastructure and storage systems. This is what Hyundai Australia has explored beginning eight months ago, now reporting on some positive upshots.  And because they are utterly ecstatic about their decision to virtualize all of their servers via VMware’s ESXi and vSphere hypervisor, the company is now looking forward to achieving same economic and high performance benefits for desktops.

Hyundai Australia’s IT infrastructure manager, Kawa Farid provided details on what they are presently utilizing and they future plans: “Locally we use a hybrid model and have Cloud services for point applications like spam filtering, but the rest has to be in-house. We have not issues so far being 100 per cent virtualised and we made sure we used the latest technology for our infrastructure.”

He added, “I’m looking at what type of desktop virtualization solutions are available and we might continue to use VMware technology, but nothing has been decided yet.”

The headquarters of the automotive company is based in South Korea. With all the measures still aligned within the rulebook of the organizations, they went on to tap virtualization in this branch found in land down under.

Virtualization is a growing trend as cloud computing progresses. The leader of this space is VMware, but others are starting to close the gaps as they try to improve on the premise of consumers’ demands. VMware has had a good share of the limelight for the past few months, even being dubbed the dictator of IT infrastructure. The company’s outstanding second quarter financial performance is a proof that they are indomitable, and virtualization is soon to engulf modern-day data storage and management systems.  The only question now, following the augmentation of product prices, is their affordability.  Startups are seeing opportunities in the virtualization space, with AppSense being another virtualization solutions provider that performed well last quarter in terms of revenues.

With cost savings, scalability and improved performance, virtualization is beginning to be globally recognized and utilized. In July, France stepped up its efforts and is now going the virtualizing direction.
