Business software maker SAP is drastically expanding by launching new initiatives and heading overseas, with China being one of the most important destinations on the list. The company has been seeing growth in the Asia Pacific region for quite some now, and reported a 14 percent year-per-year increase in revenues from this market in the second quarter of this year at €345 million (about $489 million).
China in particular accounts for a large part of that figure. SAP has over 4,000 users in the nation, mostly small businesses using its Business One ERP software, and larger companies that are leveraging the SAP Business Suite, essentially the enterprise version. This is the reason the company is expanding in China by introducing some of its most popular offerings to this market:
“Last week SAP announced that it would offer its MaxAttention premium support service in China signaling that it sees China as a huge potential market for growth in its ERP business. [1] The service includes creating customized solutions based on customer needs and creating embedded support teams,” reports Forbes.
ERP software accounts for 37 percent of Forbes’ $61.65 estimate for SAP’s stock. The German business software giant is constantly working on expanding this core business, and one of the ways it is doing so is by investing in its partner ecosystem – an effort that has been paying off.
Faxing solutions provider Retarus launched its SAP Certified Faxolution Interface for North America today. The interface integrates with Retarus’ fax platform and SAP Netweaver, allowing customers to send and receive faxes directly from SAP applications via a secure VPN connection.
SAP is expanding its core businesses while venturing into new markets and geographic areas. Security in turn is also likely to turn into a bigger emphasis for the company. Back at the Black Hat security conference, ERPScan’s Alexander Polyakov revealed an exploit that would allow hackers to detect unprotected SAP deployments using Google, while SAP revealed a security patch update this week as well.
