What Are Companies’ Top Priorities for Application Integration?
Business intelligence/analytics and productivity/collaboration applications are most companies’ top integration priorities according to a report published by SnapLogic. SnapLogic conducted a survey of executives with 110 respondents. It’s a small number, but sheds some light on enterprise priorities.
According to the report 39% of respondents say they will likely pursue business intelligence/analytics integrations in the next year, and 36% said they would pursue productivity/collaboration applications in the same time period. Social media integrations were also a high priority.
Responses to the question “Which types of applications would your company most like to integrate?”
The top priorities for social media integration in the next year, for either marketing or customer support, were:
- Facebook (33%)
- Twitter (22%)
- LinkedIn (20%)
- Google+ (15%)
- YouTube (9%)
- Yelp (1%)
The report also indicates that 57% of respondents expect data volume growth of 25% or more over the next 12-18 months. Respondents cited insufficient integrations and data quality maintenance as the biggest challenges for taking advantage of enterprise data.
Responses to the question How would you characterize the growth of data volume your organization will experience over the next 12-18 months?
Services Angle
As we mentioned Monday, we’re seeing more cloud providers provide easy, out of the box integrations with other applications. However, there are still many integrations which must be custom coded using providers’ APIs. This report highlights the need for additional integrations. SnapLogic is trying to fill a gap in between out of the box and custom integrations by doing all the heavy lifting in advance and selling reusable solutions via a self-service “app store”-style market.
