Flash-based storage acceleration solutions maker Fusion-io has been growing steadily for some time now, and this is true for most of the segments it operates in. That includes the public sector and government agencies using its offerings to boost their existing IT infrastructure.
The latest development? Fusion announced its technology has been tested and found to meet the Department of Defense sanitization standards by the Defense Information Systems Agency, also known as DISA. The Sure Erase allows users to delete all data stored on a machine leveraging ioMemory.
“Given the importance of data security for both public and private institutions, we are pleased to be able to offer our customers storage memory technologies that deliver industry-leading performance as well as mission-critical data protection validated by the Department of Defense,” said Neil Carson, Fusion-io Chief Technology Officer.”
Fusion-io has been quite busy expanding recently, gaining support from other government agencies all the while. The Salt Lake City-based tech firm has been given the thumbs up by the U.S Navy, which replaced its outdated RAID 5 storage deployments with Fusion’s products. The result, according to a report it released, is an 800 percent performance increase.
Yesterday, the company said in a joint statement with SAN solutions vendor Kaminari that the Kaminario K2 all-solid-state SAN storage, currently in development, will be leveraging Fusion ioDrive Duo as well. The two firms will be promoting the new offering to their joint customers, though a release did not provide any more details on when it will hit the market.
Back at VMworld 2011, Fusion-io also got its share of the headlines thanks to the launch of ioCache, a combination of its hardware and software provided by ioTurbine. The product allows customers to essentially leverage flash as RAM, and also marks Fusion’s first offering that’s designed for virtualized environments.
