Household CEOs Rely on Emerging Technology

Technology has come a long way.  It has already become a part of everyone’s life.  Because of technology, people have experienced the comfort and convenience of life.   It has contributed to our culture’s development and has even influenced our decision making.

In this modern time, women have proved that they are also competitive, productive, effective, and efficient.  They say that the most difficult career of a woman is being a mom.  However, because of the help of technology, more moms are getting their household activities done a lot easier.

According to Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG), one of the world’s largest creators of high-quality interactive entertainment across all platforms, women are utilizing technology and the internet to make being a mom easier.  This was the finding of DIMG’s research study called M.O.M, also known as Mom on a Mission, with the objective of gaining insights to understand today’s mom, her roles, and how technology and the Internet affect her life.  Moreover, the study has also revealed that a lot of mothers are taking on the role of “Household CEO” and has been using technology products and devices as their ultimate weapon in performing their household jobs.

Staying connected with your loved ones – family and friends, has made mom’s usage of consumer electronics, connected devices such as computers, mobile phones and tablets continue to grow.  As a matter of fact, almost all of the moms included in the study own, use and connect their computers to the internet.  Moreover, around 91% of moms are using mobile devices.

“Today’s moms are adopting emerging technologies at an impressive rate to help manage their families’ busy lives and use as entertainment platforms with their kids,” said Dave Dickman, SVP of digital media sales for DIMG.

“For digital marketers who are trying to reach moms, we believe this second wave will help them better understand the shifting behavior.”

In addition, the study also found that moms with smartphones are using this device almost 4 hours each day, sending emails, texting, social networking, online banking, and even meal planning.  Another interesting discovery was that moms are using their tablets to play games with their child as a means of family bonding, and makes mom feel like a Super Mom.

In UK, almost one third of kids under 10 years old own a web-connected mobile phone, and about 16% already have their own laptops.  To ensure safety for these young web surfers, connected devices must be properly armed with antivirus and antimalware .

On the other hand, a study from Cisco shows that nearly half of college students prefer theInternet to friends and dating – a concrete example of how internet and technology has changed the way we see things and interact with each other.   This posts a big challenge to all the moms with the help of technology also, to always remind and instill to their kids the correct values and importance of relationships, even in this web-connected world.
