Facebook for iPad Tops Business Tablet Apps of the Week
This week brought several important enterprise updates to the mobile space, especially where Android is concerned. It’s growing support that the enterprise sector is a ready and willing mobile audience, always in need of business-ready apps. There were a couple notable new app launches for the business tablet user, among them the celebrated launch of Facebook for iPad. Social networking is an important tool of connectivity amongst business users, fostering relationships into the digital realm.
iPad
Facebook’s iPad app makes full use of the tablet’s touchscreen by featuring a wide view and drop-down toolbars. The things users access more such as games, groups, lists and so on can be accessed via a left-hand panel, while notifications appear on the top. Airplay support and video recording are also available.
Unified communications solutions maker Polycom announced its mobile apps this week, which bring its video collaboration technology to the iPad. Enterprise customers can manage up to 75,000 devices running the app and up to 25,000 concurrent users at any given time.
Market Scan is an iPad app that does a bit more than display stock market updates, allowing you to set parameters and scan indexes specifically for profit opportunities. It also comes with 28 predefined scans and the ability to customize them and carry them out rapidly.
Android
Google Voice (Honeycomb Optimized)
Google Voice is the Gmail of telecommunications – it assigns a single number to phones and voicemails, and allows users to view transcripts of recorded messages in addition to hearing them. In addition, calls made within the US are free.
Stock Alert streams real-time quotes from NASDAQ, NYSE, and other international indexes including the Indian, Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges. The app features a smooth interface along with a visualized display, and sends out notifications when certain stocks selected by the user hit a given price.
