We’ve compiled a list of the five iPad and Honeycomb apps that caught our eyes this week, including one new player in the tablet scene. This time Notability is the highlight of our roundup, thanks to the iPad note-taking app’s broad functionality and efficient design that aims to cater to the power-user that will make the most of the app’s features.
iPad
Developer Ginger Labs refers to Notability 4.0 as the “first truly integrated note-taking app for iPad,” which is one way of saying that the app packs much more than just the basic text-based, note-taking functionality. It can be used to record voice notes as well as handwritten ones, and features things like PDF support, customizable word processing bars and password protection, sync with cloud storage services and more.
Taska is a task management tool that features all the things one would expect in this category in a streamlined, authentic-looking UI. Users can search for keywords, create customized lists, sync with Toodledo and the iPad version of the app, and backup their data via iTunes.
iThoughts is a mind-mapping tool for Apple’s popular tablet that provides an open environment to map out objectives and concepts, among other things. The open elemant in iThoughts is the ability to import and export to and from a lengthy list of popular desktop mind-mapping apps including Freemind, XMind and OPML.
Android
Lookout security ( now Honeycomb-optimized)
The latest version of the popular mobile security app was released just a short while ago, and introduces one feature many users have been waiting for. A few days after it has become available for the iPhone, it rolled out for Android tablet owners.
Call Blocker is a smart call blocker that extends its telecommunications firewall to include other functions, such as the ability to backup contacts, delete history and specific calls, and more.
