OpenGear’s Next Gen, Budget-Friendly RMM Lineup
OpenGear announced the latest generation of its ACM5500 remote monitoring and management (RMM) products. The company is offering an alternative to much pricier systems by providing single appliance that is hooked up to an organization’s network and enables managed service providers to solve problems remotely. The solution also trims costs because customers can easily replace it should the need arise.
The newest products feature several improvements. Additional ports have been added and devices connected to a remotely managed network can be accessed via several types of connections, such as Ethernet and USB. The ACM5500 line-up also comes with 4Gb worth of local storage and built in modems that enable admins to take over via any time of connection – 3G support is available at release, and 4G LTE is coming in Q2 according to OpenGear.
There’s a long list of the new advantages OpenGear’s freshest products offer. Other benefits include the addition of duel SIM phones support and power-over-Ethernet configurations for easier deployment.

OpenGear’s portfolio revamp follows Intel’s own networking update. The chipmaker acquired a the InfiniBand unit from QLogic in hopes that the merger – which cost Intel over $100 million in cash – will realize some of its ambitions in this space. High-performance computing is a particular area of focus for many companies, and as innovation revels in the new demands of the networking space, there’s plenty of opportunity for companies like OpenGear.
