The Perfect Geek Gift for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is fast approaching and many of us struggle with ideas for what to give the woman who birthed and raised  us.  There’s always flowers, gift certificates, jewelry, dinner or the simple pleasures of a peaceful day free of chores with breakfast and bed.  Any of these used to be enough to make mom happy but these days, moms are as techie as the rest.  So why not give them something they’ll really enjoy, like a new gadget or some cool apps?

Here are some few cool ideas:

Gadgets

Tablet – either replace the old tablet she’s using, or if your mom doesn’t own one yet, a new tablet would be perfect.  Either buy her the new iPad or the Galaxy Tab, it doesn’t really matter which brand, I’m sure she’ll love it.

Smartphone – this would mean so much to your mom as this shows you want to alway be in contact with her.  Get her an iPhone or a Galaxy smartphone.  Sprint’s already ahead of the curve with Mother’s Day deals at most stores.

Roku – Moms love watching TV so this little streaming device is perfect for them.  Partner it with a Netflix subscription and your mom will be in TV heaven.

Android apps

50,000 Baby Names – for soon-to-be-moms who can’t figure out the perfect baby name.

Astrid – the perfect to-do-list app.

Baby Monitor & Alarm – perfect for new moms who have a hard time catching some zzzzz’s and adjusting to their baby’s schedule.

Cozi Family Organizer – the ultimate family organizer with a centralized calendar, shopping lists, to do lists and a journal that everyone can share on the go – it syncs with other phones so everyone is “in-the-know” and no one misses important family events.

MyFitnessPal – this app helps people eat healthy as it has one of the largest nutritional databases of any Android calorie counter with over 1,100,000 foods.  Plus it lets you create custom exercise routines and track cardio and strength training including sets, reps and weight.

Recipe Search – our moms may be the greatest cook in our eyes but sometimes we wish she cooked other things.  This app will help your mom come up with new mouthwatering feasts.

RedLaser – the perfect shopping companion for your savvy mom.  It’s one of the fastest barcode recognition apps, searching for online and local deals for price comparison.

Sleepy Time – after a hectic day, every mom just wants to get some sleep, but it’s not always so easy.  This app will help them relax and fall asleep in no time so they can be ready to face the world the following day feeling refreshed and rejuvinated.
