Objectivity Claims Big Wins for NoSQL
Objectivity is a veteran database company that has been making software to help large enterprises manage their data since 1988. More recently they jumped aboard the NoSQL bandwagon, and now reports that its distributed object DB solution is becoming more popular than ever.
The firm says that in recent months some 14 companies decided to try out its solution, launching internal pilot programs to test drive the technology. Objectivity already names Ericsson, healthcare provider McKesson and defense contractor Raytheo as clients, and now several others as well.
Public security is one of the company’s key markets, with McKesson, Navy and Department of Defense all using its database software. More recently several U.S.-based and German financial service providers joined the list as well, in addition to Fortune 100 IT vendors, SIs and more government agencies. No names were mentioned.
“What differentiates Objectivity from other companies is the breadth of our experience, and our ability to act as a federated connection store for disparate databases of all kinds from NOSQL to RDBMS. Specifically, InfiniteGraph and Objectivity/DB enable customers to quickly discover and leverage Big Data in real-time for the greatest power, and complexity analysis, allowing us to partner with companies for the long-term,” said CEO Jay Jarrell.” At the speed, size and complexity these companies need, nothing is more powerful on the market today.”
Objectivity founder Leon Guzenda elaborated on this premise during an interview with our editor Kristen Nicole. According to him the main thing that the company puts on the table is the giving organizations the ability to contextualize datasets with other relevant data, rather than simply providing an analytics-ready environment. InfiniteGraph and /DB manages to do these two things at the same time, facilitating it all by supporting powerful low level languages such as C++ and Java.
