Apple seeks to ban eight Samsung devices

After Apple’s win in their case against Samsung, the fruit-logo company already filed a request to ban eight of the South Korean’s devices in the US.  The devices Apple included in their filing are: Galaxy S 4G, Galaxy S II AT&T, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Galaxy S II T-Mobile, Galaxy S II Epic 4G, Galaxy S Showcase, Droid Charge and Galaxy Prevail.

Though banning eight devices might sound critical for Samsung, it doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal as the said devices are already old models.  Banning the said devices probably won’t do much damage to Samsung’s revenue.

“This would be equivalent to a situation if Apple was banned from selling its iPhone 3S in the U.S. market,” Amir Anvarzadeh, Singapore-based manager for Asia equity sales at BGC, said in a note today. “The potential impact of the ban looks fairly limited.”

Still, Samsung already vowed to take the necessary measures to fight the ban and make all their devices available in the US.

Galaxy Note 2 leak

Back in July, news surfaced that Samsung will be holding an event ahead of the IFA 2012 to unveil the Galaxy Note 2.  Though the South Korean company kept mum about the said device, leaks have already surfaced just a day before the event.

According to the Seoul Newspaper, the Galaxy Note 2 will feature a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with 1,280×720-pixel resolution, will run Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, and will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants and have 4G LTE capabilities and an 8MP rear camera.

The Galaxy Note 2 could be showcased at the IFA 2012, which will start on August 31, but a press conference will be held tomorrow to officially unveil the new device.

Google Wallet to expand offering to businesses

Google Wallet now supports all major credit cards, as they push to make shopping or paying for anything as easy as possible.  But teaming up with banks is just the beginning, as they want to expand to businesses and make people’s lives even more Google-venient.

“One of the types of things we’re trying to do is make it easy for airlines, transit providers, and other types of issuers of credentials to make it super simple for them to get their credentials stored in the wallet…” Google Wallet development manager Robin Dua, said in a developer conference.

“That’s the goal. We want you to be able to leave your leather wallet at home and carry your phone and transact with that as your primary transaction device.”

“We wanted to wait for the right opportunity to launch on Android,” Magisto CEO Oren Boiman said.  “Android took longer to develop than iOS, but it has better opportunities for integration.” One such integration, he said, is the ability to launch Magisto’s app from the Android gallery.
