Kognitio Announces Free Software Licensing Model
Kognitio, a provider of data analytics, data warehousing and BI solutions, has announced the availability of a free licensing model, allowing companies to download a fully functional copy of its software at no charge, and with no time restrictions. The license is for up to 128GB RAM with unlimited data that can be stored and accessed on disk.
Kognitio announced its free software model in New York City at the O’Reilly Strata and Hadoop World conference, where it is an Exabyte sponsor. With introduction of this free licensing model, Kognitio is helping industry solutions vendors and enterprises to gain insights from Big Data, unifying“information anywhere”. It also announced availability of a full-featured, perpetual use license of up to 128 gigabytes, without an expiration period or other limited functions.
“For some firms, this will be all they need to perform the kind of deep-dive analysis required in today’s market,” said Steve Millard, Kognitio president and chief executive officer. “Other, larger companies will be able to use Kognitio to accelerate their existing business intelligence environment to better enable ad-hoc analysis on Big Data in real time. Either way, we believe that once they experience the power of in-memory analytics and the ease of use Kognitio delivers, they will come back to us for more.”
Besides Kognitio, industry experts are also quite optimistic and excited about this new development.
“This approach by Kognitio removes that hurdle to implementation, by allowing companies to add an analytical environment to an existing Big Data environment without incurring any software licensing costs. It truly represents a risk-free opportunity,” said John Myers, senior analyst for Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing at Enterprise Management Associates.
So, let’s just hope that Kognitio gets huge success for its latest development, and the DevOps community likes it too!
